Description

Milestone located 100 metres west of Ettersgill Bridge, dating from around 1830 and created for the London Lead Company. It is made of painted ashlar and stands approximately 0.8 metres high, featuring a slightly-chamfered round top. The words "ALSTON 18" and "MIDDLETON 3" are incised and painted in black Roman capitals on the front.
