Description

Ettersgill Bridge over Ettersgill Beck is a bridge built around 1830 for the London Lead Company, designed by road engineer J.L. McAdam. It features thin courses of squared rubble with millstone grit ashlar dressings. The bridge has a high segmental arch, with voussoirs set in a pecked surround, and a band at road bed level that continues around pyramid-coped piers at the ends of the parapets, which have low-curved copings. Pilasters support the piers. The bridge is partly located in the parish of Newbiggin.
