Dial House And Outbuildings Attached To Left And Right

This is a small, mid-18th century farmhouse with a barn attached to the left and a former barn, now converted for domestic use, attached to the right. Later 19th-century alterations were made. The farmhouse is built of sandstone rubble, with sandstone flag roofs. Rendered and dressed sandstone stacks are present.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with three bays. A 20th-century door, set within a flat-surrounded trellis porch, sits in the centre. There are four-pane sash windows, with intermediate glazing bars now removed, all in flat surrounds. Above the doorway is a square sundial with incised Roman numerals painted black and the inscription “JAMES HUITSON 1750". A single-storey rear outshut has a twelve-pane sash window. The roof features slightly projecting eaves, coped gables, and shaped kneelers, along with two corniced gable stacks.

The barn attached to the left is single-storey with a loft over, consisting of three bays. It has a breather to the left, two 20th-century openings, and a hit-and-miss window to the right. The roof has slightly projecting eaves.

The former barn attached to the right is single-storey with a loft over, featuring a single bay. It has large rough quoins on the lower half of the wall and a 20th-century casement window to the right. The right return has a 20th-century external staircase leading to a boarded door. The roof has slightly projecting eaves and coped gables with shaped kneelers.

Attached pigsties to the rear of the left barn are not considered of special interest.
