Description
The building is a byre with an attached cart shed located 40 metres north of Walker Hall, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of snecked sandstone with dressed window surrounds and features pantiled roofs with a double row of sandstone flags at the eaves.
The byre is two storeys high and consists of four bays. On the ground floor, there is a pair of boarded doors slightly left of centre, an external stone staircase, a boarded door, and a 20th-century opening to the right. To the left, there is another boarded door and a hit-and-miss window set in a raised, keyed, round-arched surround. The first floor has a boarded door in the third bay from the left, a four-pane horizontal sliding sash window in a similar round-arched surround to the right, and two hit-and-miss windows in similar surrounds to the left. The roof features coped gables with shaped kneelers.
The cart shed is a single storey with three bays. It has a central doorway with a lowered lintel and single breathers to the left and right. The right return includes a rebated, round-arched opening with tooled voussoirs and a pair of boarded doors. The roof has a coped gable on the right side.
