Description
St Helen's Fort, built in 1577, is one of four circular island bastions made of stone and brick located in the Solent. It was part of Lord Palmerston's 1860 defense plan against the threat of French invasion, representing the final phase of Greater Portsmouth's defensive history and showcasing remarkable engineering. The fort is situated near the seashore of St Helen's.
