Description
St Helen's Priory is a 20th-century house that features a restored portal on its west front, which originates from the original Cluniac Priory of St Helen's, founded in 1090. The portal includes clustered columns with stiff leaf capitals, a pointed arch adorned with crockets and a finial, and saints' heads in hollow chamfers. There is also fruit and leaf decoration in the outer chamfer. Pairs of angels on either side of the portal may have been added later.
