Description

No Man's Land Fort is one of four circular island bastions made of stone and brick located in the Solent. Built in 1577 as part of Lord Palmerston's defensive scheme from 1860 against the threat of French invasion, it represents the final phase of Greater Portsmouth's defensive history and is a remarkable feat of engineering. The fort is situated to the northeast of Ryde pier.
