Description
Seafield House is a house dating from approximately 1820-30. It is constructed of stock brick with a bowed central section and a semi-basement. A stucco band runs between the two storeys. The roof is slate, steeply pitched with overhanging eaves. A circular stair light with a conical glazed roof is set into the ridge of the roof, and there are two flat-roofed dormers. The front has four windows on the first floor, with two in the bow; a small window has been added to the east under the eaves; and two ground-floor windows. These are recessed sash windows with intact glazing bars, block sills, flat brick arches, and stucco keystones. The central doorway on the ground floor, within the bow, features recessed original double doors with fielded panels and marginal glazing to the upper lights. This is flanked by blind side lights, with a recessed blind fanlight above. A bowed verandah, set on a stucco-faced base with cast iron columns and fanned brackets, has swagged railings with a roundel band between the columns. Steps lead up to the verandah either side against the wall, which has rusticated rendering. A window is located below the verandah, and there are two further basement windows which are recessed sash windows with glazing bars and flat brick arches, topped with a stucco keystone. A later wing extends to the west with a lean-to roof.
