Description
Old Salterns Cottage is part of a group of cottages that were originally inhabited by those who worked the salt flats. The cottage dates back to the 16th century but has been significantly altered in the 19th century. It is a single-storey building with an attic, constructed from rendered rubble. The roof is half hipped and tiled with a steep pitch, featuring a gable dormer added in the 19th century.
The ground floor has a three-light casement window with glazing bars. The north front is weatherboarded, while the hipped end displays ornamental bargeboards. There are two windows on the first floor, both of which are two-light casements. The ground floor also includes a large wooden bay window with five-light casements and glazing bars. An outhouse with a half hipped roof has been added to the north side, which is weatherboarded on the first floor and features similar bargeboards and two casements on the north front.
