Description

Alton House, also known as Shirley Cottage, is a late 18th century building located on High Street in Seaview. It is constructed from stone rubble and brick and consists of two storeys and an attic. Originally, it was one house and features a gable end roof covered with old tiles and an eaves cornice. The building has three dormers, with two being original flat-roofed and one added in the early 19th century. There are four recessed sash windows with glazing bars, and to the left, there are superimposed wooden bay windows with three lights and glazing bars. The ground floor has a French window entrance, and a yellow brick bay has been added to the right side, extending through both storeys.
