Description

The Caretaker’s or Gardener’s Lodge at the University of South Wales, located on the Caerleon Campus, is a two-storey building with a mixed Revival style, constructed from Old Red Sandstone rubble and featuring Bath stone dressings. It has hipped slate roofs, deep eaves, and ashlar chimney stacks. The sash windows include upper lights with small panes and large single pane lower lights.

The building has an off-square plan with a single-storey range attached to the northeast. Both the elevation facing the college approach and the northwest elevation consist of three bays. The entrance elevation to the southeast features three doors on the ground floor, with the principal door on the left having a Bath stone surround, while the service doors on the right include a ventilation window. Above, there are three windows, with the central window being lowered. The workshop range includes two tall windows and two doorways; the left doorway is wide and boarded, while the right is narrow with an overlight. The northern gable end has a single window, and the west return features a tall central window and a door to the right on the southern gable. The property has not been inspected.
