Description
6 and 7 Backhall Street is a two-storey building with a double depth plan, dating from the 18th century. The front is entirely rendered, likely over local rubble stone, and features a Welsh slate roof with red brick chimney stacks. On the ground floor, there are two doors and two windows arranged as door, window, door, window, with No 7 on the left. The doors are panelled and have rectangular overlights, strip pilasters, and hoods supported by brackets. The windows are plain 6 over 6 pane sashes. The upper floor has one centrally placed window for No 7 and two above the lower features for No 6, also 6 over 6 sashes. The roof is steeply pitched, with a large multi-flue stack on the left gable and a smaller, clearly added stack on the right gable. The rear elevation was not inspected during the resurvey.
