Description
Victoria Road United Reformed Church is a classical building with influences from the ancient Middle East, constructed over two storeys and a basement using Bath stone ashlar. The front facing Hill Street features a pediment and consists of five bays, with the end bays being blank and recessed. The three central windows are adorned with spiral-fluted tall columns and arched heads, and there is ornate decoration around the window openings with shoulders. The ground floor showcases channelled rustication, while quoins are present above.
The side elevation facing Victoria Road has six bays with similar window openings. At the rear on Victoria Road, there is a single-storey block designed in a simple classical style, featuring three windows in Bath stone. Attached to the left side on Hill Street is a two-storey school and vestry block designed in Tudor style, which includes an oriel window on the first floor.
Inside, the ceiling is designed with square panels formed by heavy ribs, with a central section that is elliptical and features pierced decoration on the ribs. There is a U-plan gallery with a wooden panelled frontal supported by polygonal columns. The organ is set back behind an elaborate triple arch, and below it is a broad pulpit designed in the style of around 1700.
