Description
The mill building at Lower Llancayo Farm is a Grade II listed structure made of rubble stone with a graded slate hipped roof. It stands three storeys tall and features a five-window range. The ground floor is a semi-basement with lunette lights positioned above the plinth, two on each side of the door, which currently has missing glazing. The door has been enlarged to the right and has a timber lintel located just below the first-floor door. On the first floor, there are two cambered-headed windows on each side of the door. The upper floor includes a large central loading door and two square windows located under the eaves on each side. The basement lunettes and first-floor openings are adorned with red sandstone voussoirs that include keystones. The end walls also feature a two-window range of similar windows, with a first-floor door on the east end to the left, accessed by brick and stone steps. The rear of the building is obscured by a modern barn and has a four-window range with similar openings on the first and second floors.
Inside, the building has oak beams and joists. The basement contains four heavy beams and four iron posts, while the rear arches to the windows are made of red brick. The first floor has three beams, one of which has been removed, along with some iron wheels and shafts that were used for belt-driven machinery. The upper floor is plastered and shows remnants of shafts for a hoist, with a loft floor above in the roof.
