Description

Nos. 11 and 13 St. James’ Street are a pair of double-depth houses dating circa 1800. They are faced with painted roughcast render and have a Welsh slate roof. Each house has a single front, with entrances in the outer bays. The three storeys contain two windows each. The windows are 18th-century type sash windows, with 8 over 8 panes on the ground floor, 6 over 6 panes on the first floor, and 3 over 6 panes on the second floor. The doorcases are timber, with hoods supported by brackets, and contain 6-panel doors. A low-pitched roof slopes down to a tall, shared stack situated on the front wall between the two houses. The rear elevation contains some sash windows. A unique feature is the central lateral stack, which has angled corner fireplaces in each house.
