Description
Nos. 11 and 13 St. James' Street are a pair of houses dating from around 1800, featuring painted roughcast render and a Welsh slate roof. These single fronted, double depth houses have entrances located in the outer bays. They rise to three storeys and each house has two windows. The ground floor windows are 18th century type sashes with 8 over 8 panes, the first floor has 6 over 6 panes, and the second floor features 3 over 6 panes. The timber doorcases are topped with hoods supported by brackets, and each house has a six-panel door. The roof is plain with a low pitch and includes a tall shared chimney stack located on the front wall between the two houses. The rear elevation contains some sash windows. Although the interior was not seen during the resurvey, it is noted that the central lateral stack features angled corner fireplaces in both houses, which is an unusual characteristic.
