Description
18 St. James' Street is a Grade II listed building featuring a rough cast and painted front with chamfered long-and-short quoins and a Welsh slate roof. The structure has a double depth central entry plan and stands three storeys tall with five windows, which are paired in the flanking bays. The windows are six over six pane sashes with stone cills, and the paired windows have enriched consoles between them. The doorcase is adorned with Ionic three-quarter columns, a broken pediment, a six-panel door, and a radiating fanlight. The centre window on the first floor is framed by a stucco architrave with a pediment and a cill supported by brackets. The upper floor features three over six pane sash windows. The roof is plain with paired rendered stacks on either gable. The rear elevation has not been seen.
Although the interior has not been viewed, it is known that the house has been converted first into local authority offices and then into flats.
