Description
Nos. 1 and 3 Glendower Street are double depth houses built in red brick using English bond, with No. 3 being rendered and painted. They feature concrete interlocking tiled roofs and brick stacks, with the rear slope covered in Welsh slate. The houses are three storeys tall, with the upper storey being shorter in height. There is a band at the first and second floors. Each house has three windows in segmental arched openings, arranged in a 2 + 1 pattern, with the wider bay on the right side. The lower floors have six over six pane sash windows, except for one ground floor window on the right of No. 1, which is a three over three pane casement, and on the left of No. 3, which is a late 20th century eight over eight pane sash. The top floor windows are six over three pane sashes. The houses have six-panel doors with transoms above; No. 1 features raised and fielded panels, while No. 3 has glazed upper panels on the door. The steeply pitched roof includes two large ridge stacks and additional minor stacks on the gables.
The rear elevation displays a variety of windows, including six over six pane sashes, three over three casements, and a large three-light window in the Drawing Room of No. 1. No. 3 has a full height hipped roof wing. The house has been divided into flats, and during the resurvey, only the hall and stair were accessible. The stair runs in straight flights from front to back but has been altered and boxed-in, with a portion of the rail featuring turned balusters remaining on the upper floor. There is a vaulted brick cellar with an interesting drainage system.
