Description
No. 1 Old Market Street is a Georgian town house that is attached on one side. The building is rendered and painted, featuring a hipped slate roof and a brick end stack. It has two storeys. The entrance front facing Old Market Street includes a single blocked window on the first floor and a blocked doorway on the ground floor, with a narrower doorway next to it that has a boarded door. There is a continuous bracketed hood above these entrances. The building has a plinth, and the roof extends over a lean-to. The Maryport Street side has a two-window range of 12-pane horned sash windows. Attached to the Maryport Street frontage are iron railings with arrow-head finials. At the rear, there is a small gabled cross wing that features a 9-pane sash window.
