Description
No. 23 New Market Street is a Georgian townhouse that is attached on one side. The building is finished with stucco render and painted, featuring a slate roof with swept eaves and raised gable end coping. It has decorative corniced brick stacks at both ends. The townhouse is two storeys high with an attic and has a symmetrical front with a three-window range of 12-pane sash windows set in reveals with narrow glazing bars.
There are semi-circular steps leading up to the central doorway, which is topped with an open pediment hood and has a fanlight with radial glazing. The doorway features panelled reveals and a six-panelled door. The side walls have spikes extending from the corners to the front, which is enclosed by railings adorned with oakleaf and urn finials on a low stone kerb, and includes central double gates.
