Description

1a Monnow Street is a two-storey building with a double depth plan, featuring a rendered and painted front, likely over brick. The roof is not visible from the street. The ground floor includes a recessed late 20th-century glazed shopfront, which is set behind two segmental arches supported by rusticated piers with voussoired heads. The upper floors display an arched treatment, with windows set in tall recesses; the first floor has 6 over 6 pane sash windows, while the arched heads above feature small blind recesses. The building has a coped parapet that shows signs of detail loss and a rendered stack on the left gable. The rear elevation has not been seen. The interior was not observed during the resurvey, but the ground floor has been entirely restructured for use as a shop.
