Description
1 Monnow Street is a two-storey building with a rendered and painted front, likely over brick, and the roof is not visible from the street. It has a double depth plan and features two windows. The ground floor has a late 20th-century all-glass shop front that is recessed behind the building line. This recession is a feature from the 19th century, as the upper floor is supported by two slim cast-iron columns that carry a now blanked off fascia. The first floor has two paired windows with 6 over 6 pane sashes, along with a cornice band and a coped parapet. The rear elevation has not been seen. The interior was not observed during the resurvey, but the ground floor has been completely restructured for use as a shop.
