Description
Nos. 17 and 18 Frogmore Street are stucco-fronted buildings painted and topped with natural slate roofs. They feature a double depth plan with shops on the ground floor and a central entrance leading to apartments above. The buildings stand three storeys tall and have a total of six windows arranged in pairs of two, with the outer pairs set slightly forward and topped with pediments. The central section includes bands at the first and second floors.
There is a central arched doorway with an architrave that has a keystone and imposts, along with a simple fanlight. This doorway is flanked by shopfronts. No. 17, on the right, has a partly late 19th-century shopfront with later display windows, featuring a recessed central entrance, slim mullions, and a fascia supported by double brackets. No. 18, on the left, has a mid to late 20th-century shopfront with a recessed central entrance and curved small-paned display windows, along with a plain fascia.
The first-floor windows are 6 over 6 pane sashes with iron flower guards, while the second-floor windows are 3 over 6, all set in plain reveals. A cornice runs between the pediments, and the low-pitched roof is largely hidden from view from the street. The rear elevation has not been inspected. The interior was not seen during the resurvey, but it was noted that the ground floor lacks visible historic features.
