Description

9 Great Oak is a cottage designed in a simple arts-and-crafts style, featuring roughcast render painted white. It has small-paned casement windows with swept lintels and plain tiled roofs, which were renewed in 2005, topped with semi-circular ridge tiles. The building is two storeys high and has an L-plan layout, with a lower outbuilding aligned to the southeast.

The entrance is located in the northeast range at the angle of the two wings, featuring a canopy porch supported by timber columns. The door has tongue-and-groove boarding within panels. Above the door, there is a three-light casement window, and to the left, an advanced wing contains a single-light casement window. An advanced chimney on the gable end of the northeast range displays a date, with numerals flanking a 'T' and a coronet, indicating Lord Treowen; there are also two-light casements to its left.

On the rear elevation of the northeast range, there is a three-light casement window to the left with a gabled dormer above, and paired two-light casements to the right. The rear elevation of the northwest-southeast range features two sets of three-light casement windows on the ground floor and paired two-light casements in gabled dormers above. The attached outbuilding on the southeast gable has feather-edged boarding and a plain tiled roof, with a two-light casement window to the left of the doorway and a smaller window to its right.
