White Cottage, Talisman Place, Peebles

White Cottage, located on Talisman Place in Peebles, is an earlier 19th century picturesque cottage with a 20th century extension to the north. The building is low and single-storey, designed in a T-plan, and is constructed from whitewashed rubble with overhanging eaves that feature exposed rafters.

On the south elevation, the cottage has four bays, with a shallow bow window in the centre left bay, two windows to the right, and a blank bay to the left. The west elevation has a gable on the right side that includes a picture window, while a later range is set back to the left and features a splayed flat-roofed porch in the re-entrant angle.

The north elevation showcases a later broad projecting bay to the centre left, which contains a bipartite window and a swept piended roof. There is a porch to the right and a projecting lean-to to the left. The east elevation has a blank gable on the left and a set back range to the right. The south and west elevations feature 4-pane timber casement windows, while the north elevation has sash and case windows. The casement windows on the south side are made of PVC. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a coped rubble stack.

The interior was not seen during the inspection in 1994.
