Description

Kerfield House is a classical villa dating from around 1800, featuring two storeys and three bays, with a single and two-storey service wing to the east that has been altered. The exterior is finished in painted stucco, with a base course, raised window surrounds, a banded cill course, angle pilasters, and a dentilled eaves cornice on the main block.

On the north (front) elevation, the main block has a full-height canted projection at the center, with a doorway that includes a Tuscan doorpiece. There are single windows flanking the doorway and above it, with a half-piend roof. The outer bays have single windows, and additional windows have been inserted into the ground and first floors on the left side. The service wing features single windows, with a single-storey portion that has two wallhead dormers.

The south (rear) elevation mirrors the front with a full-height canted bay at the center and a half-piend roof. It has single windows, full-height at the ground floor. The service wing includes a single-storey canted bay to the left and a lean-to conservatory added to the outer right, along with a dormer above.

The west elevation consists of three bays divided by shallow pilasters, with single windows and full-height windows at the ground floor. The east elevation has an off-centre Tuscan doorway to the left, two single windows to the right, and a modern garage opening to the left, with a blank first floor and a wallhead stack and dormer above.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, with lying panes on the full-height windows and 4-pane windows on the service wing. The roof is covered in grey and purple slate with a distinctive octagonal shafted ashlar stack.

Inside, there is an oval entrance hall featuring a Minton tile floor, although some alterations have been made to the remaining interior.

Additionally, there is a single span whinstone rubble vehicular bridge leading to the driveway, which has an iron lattice work balustrade with a scroll motif.
