Description

Two handed cottages built of quarry faced red sandstone rubble with stone slate roofs. They form a one-storey-and-attic range with a cottage on either side of a central carriage arch. Five bay front to the whole with an E-shaped plan with outer gables which have a 2-light lattice casement below and an oculus in the gable above. The inner bays have a 3-light casement and the entrance door is in the return. The centrepiece is a gabled archway with a dovecote on the ridge. The arch is round headed with keystone and impost blocks and has an oculus above. The end elevation of each house has 2-light casements and dormers on either side of a large 2-flued stack with off-sets. The rear elevation has windows to the cottages, which prove to be only the end gabled bays, while the bays beside the arch have garage doors.
