Description

The Jones Family Tomb is a chest tomb made of grey limestone, located in the churchyard of St Mary's Church. It is designed in the Gothic style and features a vermiculated base and a moulded plinth. The corners are adorned with dog-tooth ornamentation. The tomb has a rolled cornice and a stepped cap that includes a relief cross. The long sides of the tomb have sunk panels with inscriptions dedicated to the Jones family. One side commemorates Thomas and Rachel Jones, with the date being illegible but likely around 1865. The other side has a better-preserved inscription for Martha Jones, who died in 1878, and her brother William Lewis Jones, who also died in 1878. Both were the children of Thomas and Rachel Jones.
