Description
The Jones Chest Tomb, located in the churchyard of the Church of St Tysilio, is a Grade II listed structure made of sandstone with marble side panels. It is set on a stone platform and features a moulded stone base. The marble sides extend beyond fluted end pilasters and are topped with a prominently gadrooned cornice, with a low moulded attic above. On the eastern end, there are bold relief carvings of putti holding trumpets, while the western end displays a mantled shield bearing arms. The tomb is inscribed on the front to Thomas Jones of the Hall, Llantysilio, who died on 6th May 1761, with an addition for his wife in 1787.
