Description
The Electricity Power House is a large, single-storey rectangular building constructed of red brick. The main gable facade features three bays, while the return elevation has nine bays. The symmetrical gable is highlighted by a wide central semi-circular arched doorway, flanked by two tall semi-circular arched windows, each with stone sills. Although the iron glazing bars remain, the window openings have been filled in with brick. At the top of the gable wall, there is a blind ocular window with a small diamond-shaped opening at its center. The end pilaster strips extend into stepped decorative verges.
On the return elevation, there are eight identical semi-circular arched windows, all bricked in, with a ninth window blocked and an inserted doorway. Iron tie bars are present between the windows, and there is a brick eaves cornice. The floor level is higher at the west end, and the long walls have brick infill in their arches, into which iron girders have been fixed for an overhead gantry. The roof structure features narrow iron trusses.
