Description
The Winding Engine House is a single-storey, rectangular brick building with a pitched roof, dating from the 19th century. It features three bays and has a small extension to the north-east. The south-east elevation includes a brick ramp leading to central double doors, with flanking windows that have metal glazing bars, brick sills, and concrete lintels. On the north-west elevation, there is a doorway accessed by steps, accompanied by two windows to the north. The north-east gable has an external flight of steps and a large window with three lights, concrete mullions, and a cast iron lintel, through which the winding cable runs. A second cable passes through a small opening above this window. Below the large window, there are three square-headed openings, also with cast iron lintels, featuring wooden doors that are set back.
Internally, the walls are partly tiled, and the floor is covered with polished stone tiles. The driver's cabin and the winding engine remain in place.
