Description
The Ebbw Vale War Memorial is constructed of grey granite and features a tall, tapering pedestal with a concave base. Each side of the pedestal has tall bronze plaques with inscriptions. Above the plain cornice adorned with bronze laurel wreaths is a bronze figure of a soldier triumphantly waving his tin hat, similar to a figure found at Abertillery. The pedestal is set on a tall, slightly stepped plinth, which has two shallow steps below it. The memorial is enclosed by a square structure with tall granite corner posts that have sunken panels and bulbous terminals, which were originally capped with globe lanterns that have since been removed. The corner posts are connected to low pylonic granite posts by two rows of chain-link.
