Ebbw Vale Adult Education Centre

The Ebbw Vale Adult Education Centre is a two-storey building constructed from rubble with slate roofs. Although the chimneys have been removed, illustrations indicate that it originally featured shafted flues set on broad plinths. The building has a very long facade consisting of eleven bays, with the central five bays projecting higher than the rest. Each side of the narrow entrance bay has decorative bargeboards on the wide gables. The windows have stone voussoired cambered heads, but all the glazing has been replaced with plastic. The floor levels of the southern three bays are slightly lower, suggesting they were added later. There are small attic windows in the gables, with the left one blocked. The central entrance features a round-arched door with a radiating fanlight. The left elevation, which includes a rear wing, is rendered. The rear hall runs parallel to the central bays and has a slightly higher ridge-line with tall full-height windows. Between the fourth and fifth bays on the right side, there is a reset small cast-iron drinking fountain dated 1886, featuring a projecting semi-circular fluted pedestal with a spout below a decorative terminal.

Inside, there is little original detail remaining. The rear lecture hall has a flat boarded ceiling divided into panels by heavy moulded ribs.
