Description
The wall, railings, and gates at Oakdale Hospital are a Grade II listed structure. The brick wall extends from the rear of the hospital along Penrhiw Avenue, featuring a short return of stone to the north. The continuation of the wall to the northeast, east, and south in stone is not included in this listing. The brick wall is topped with saddleback coping and is complemented by railings that display Art Nouveau motifs on the stanchions. The piers are capped with terracotta cushions. There are three pairs of high wrought iron gates, each adorned with Art Nouveau designs, located at the front corners and one at the side road entrance. These gates are hung between tall brick piers that have shallow terracotta caps, which were originally decorated with ballflower ornamentation, though this detail is no longer intact. Additionally, there are single gates at both the side and front entrances.
