Description

South Lodge is a two-storey building influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, featuring roughcast walls with rusticated quoins and a replaced concrete tile roof that has overhanging eaves and a central roughcast chimney. The main gabled section faces east and includes a short wing with a hipped roof set back on the north side. There is a porch situated at the angle between the main range and the north wing, as well as a single-storey wing with a hipped roof set back on the south side. The windows are metal-framed casements with leaded lights.

The open lean-to porch has small-pane glazing on the right side, resting on a dwarf wall. The doorway features a boarded door with studs and strap hinges, along with an inserted glazed panel. On the left side wall, there is a two-light window. The main range includes a two-storey canted bay window in its eastern gable end, which has four-light windows, and a tablet dated 1912 in raised numerals located between the storeys. The gable is tile hung.

The north wing has a hipped lean-to canopy over a wooden bench on its north wall, along with a three-light window on the upper storey. The rear wall of this wing features a two-light window on the lower storey, while the main range has two-light windows in each storey to the right of the wing. The rear of the main range includes a three-light hipped canted bay window on the lower storey and a four-light window above, with a tile-hung gable.

On the left (south) side wall of the main range, there is an external stack that has been cut down to the eaves, followed by casement windows that are carried above the eaves under a hipped roof in the upper storey. The single-storey south wing has two windows and features a gabled canopy over a half-lit boarded door, flanked by casements. Both the side and rear of this wing have similar casement windows. The building has not been inspected.
