Description
Gelli farmhouse is a small farmhouse with an attached farm range that steps down on the downhill side. It is constructed of limewashed stone rubble and features a steeply pitched Welsh slate roof that extends to the front, forming a pentice with a single gabled dormer above the house. There is a small brick stack at the right end. The farm range has a corrugated roof at the front but retains stone tiles at the rear, which includes a loft dormer and has battered walls.
The house's front has a 6-pane casement window next to a wide doorway with a timber surround, and a similar window in the dormer. An additional window has been added to the attached farm range, while another opening has been blocked at the front. Originally, the farm range faced in the opposite direction to the house and still has doorways and small windows with timber lintels that face a small barn across the yard. The rear of the house features two windows, one with a hood, and an eaves staircase window, along with a rear cross passage doorway that has a timber lintel.
Inside, there is a baffle entry leading to the fireplace in the first bay, which may have been a former cross passage, of the attached range that has been incorporated into the house as a kitchen. The original ground floor included a large room with deep chamfered cross beams and small stops, and an open fireplace that is now partly blocked. At the other end, there are two small rooms that are stepped up, likely a dairy and pantry, separated by a screen. The former dairy on the left is now part of the main room, while a wooden screen to the right is still present but papered over. The floor is made of flagstones. Steep winding stairs behind a door to the left of the fireplace are made of timber, and a semi-circular well is lit by a small window.
