Description
Pentwyn-isaf is a small farmhouse with an attached barn range. It is constructed of rubble, partially limewashed and partially rendered, and features a steeply pitched machine-tile roof with skylights on the house and a brick ridge stack, while the barn has a corrugated roof. The main section of the farmhouse includes a cross passage that backs onto a fireplace, which is separately roofed. There is a short lower wing at right angles to the front, attached to the cross passage, and a later kitchen cross wing at the rear.
The house has a doorway on the left with a replaced door leading to the cross passage. Adjacent to this is a projecting wing with a stack in the gable end. To the right, there are two windows with hoods that are battered. The barn range on the left features a low double boarded door under a timber lintel, an upper window with a hood, and a lower window that has been altered. There is also a small triangular ventilator in the gable end, and at the rear, there is a window under the eaves with a hood.
Inside, the cross passage has a four-centred arched doorway leading to the hall, which contains an open fireplace with stairs beside it and a post and panel screen. The attached byre was formerly separated from the cross passage by a wooden partition, which has since been rebuilt.
