Description
Pentref-y-Groes is a small farmhouse constructed from limewashed stone rubble, featuring a replaced tile roof with skylights and replaced ridge stacks. The building includes a former lower byre range and a later unit, likely a stable, which has now been incorporated into the house. It stands two storeys tall. The front entrance is obscured by a later lean-to but features a wide doorway with a deep timber lintel. To the left of the entrance are two original window openings with stone sills; one serves the stairs, while a large inserted window is located to the right. At the rear, there is a lean-to porch attached to a cross passage doorway, with similar windows under hoods on the rear right. Former granary steps lead to the left end unit.
Inside, the main room retains chamfered and stopped beams and closely set chamfered and stopped joists, along with an open fireplace. A winding staircase is located beside the fireplace, and there is a fine post and panel screen featuring four-centred arched openings on each side. An arched doorway also leads to the former cross passage.
