Description
The former barn at Croespenmaen is a tall structure built of stone rubble, featuring tooled ashlar dressings. It has a shallow pitched Welsh slate roof at the front and a catslide roof at the rear over a lower outshut. On the centre right, there is a full-height hipped-roof porch with a high round-arched doorway, which includes voussoirs, a keystone, and imposts, with the keystone positioned at eaves level. The arch head is blocked above the impost level, and there are double boarded doors. The sides of the barn have short ventilation slits located below the eaves, as well as dove nesting holes with a ledge beneath. To the left, there is a large boarded loft opening, and on the ground floor, there are two cambered-arched doorways, one of which is partially blocked. An added wing features a long sloping roof and additional openings to the left.
Inside, the barn retains a stone threshing floor. The first floor has an opening to the outshut, which has a divided interior. There are no internal divisions or lofts remaining within the barn, which is currently used as a shop and store.
