Description
The eastern abutment of Crumlin Viaduct, located in the Ebbw Valley, is constructed from snecked rockfaced stone with ashlar dressings. It serves as a retaining wall and features heavy rockfaced quoins with finely finished edges, a corniced coping, and three large angled buttresses. The offset is marked by a thick moulded ashlar band that has a profile similar to the coping. The lower section of the wall is battered to fit into the slope, while the central part between the piers is slightly recessed.
