Former Navigation Colliery Fan House and Fan Drift

The Former Navigation Colliery Fan House and Fan Drift is a single-storey structure with an attached curved Fan Drift on the right that connects to the Heapstead. The building has an irregular plan, featuring a four-bay gabled wing on the left (south), a flat-roofed tower that projects forward at the center, and a lower four-bay frontage on the right (north) that extends further forward with a short single-pitched roof reaching the parapet. There is also a lower lean-to two-bay wing that adjoins the Fan Drift, which is stepped back to the right.

Constructed from high-quality red and yellow engineering brick, the yellow brick is slightly projecting and arranged in a grid pattern, forming quoins, pilasters, a plinth, and a cornice. The roof is made of Welsh slate, though it is not intact, featuring overhanging eaves and a gabled ridge ventilator on the left bay. The windows in the left wing of the Fan House are round-headed with keystones and multipane metal frames, with a central doorway on the left. The right wing has smaller windows with cambered heads. The three-bay south gable end also has round-headed windows, with the left window altered to a doorway and an iron-framed gable roundel above.

The interior is lined with fine quality yellow, white, and red brick, which is moulded and stepped around the surrounds.
