Former Navigation Colliery Workshops and Stores

The Former Navigation Colliery Workshops and Stores is a long, narrow building that was used for colliery services, including carpentry, smithing, and fitting. Constructed from high-quality red and yellow engineering brick, the yellow brick is used decoratively, with projecting and stepped features at the eaves, plinth, and quoins, and narrow pilasters separating the different units. The original Welsh slate roof is mostly missing. The building features matching round-headed openings for doors and deep windows, each with narrow keystones; these originally had multipane metal-framed glazing, and similar overlights above the doors, which are now partly lost. The northern side of the building has units arranged in 4 bays, 3 bays, 5 bays, and 7 bays. The 5-bay unit includes two lateral chimneys and one at the end, topped with a large ventilator. The gable end features a gable roundel and two round-arched windows. Inside, bolted metal trusses support the roof and walls made of yellow brick, and doorways lead to lobbies.
