Description

The Crumlin Viaduct NE Abutment in Cwm Kendon is a Grade II listed structure. It features all four abutments made of snecked rockfaced stone with ashlar dressings. The abutments serve as a retaining wall and include heavy rockfaced quoins with tooled edges, corniced coping, and three large angled buttresses. The offset between the buttresses is marked by a thick moulded ashlar band that matches the profile of the coping. The lower section of the wall is battered to fit into the slope, while the central part of the wall between the piers is slightly recessed.
