Description
The English Baptist Church Sunday School is a building made of snecked rockfaced stone and yellow brick, with a roof that was originally Welsh slate but is now covered with corrugated material, featuring two ventilators. It stands two storeys high and has a side elevation with five bays, including a datestone on the left side. The round-headed windows span both storeys, with some retaining their arched heads and incorporating single-pane opening lights. There are dedication stones at the base of the windows.
The entrance elevation, which faces the chapel, features a wide and deep round-arched doorway with a keystone, recessed double doors with an overlight, and is flanked by two round-headed staircase windows that are similar in style. Above the entrance, there is a decorative band and a central gallery window with paired lights and a roundel above, flanked by two full-height pilaster buttresses topped with decorative finials, along with additional dedication stones.
Inside, the ground floor retains a central hall and schoolrooms separated by moveable panelled partitions. The moulded boarded gallery front has been altered with an inserted ceiling, whereas it was formerly open. The gallery has lost some plaster from its walls and three-sided ceiling but still retains its laths, trusses, and ventilators.
