Description

15-16 Upper Colliers Row is a pair of joined, mostly altered 2-storey stone cottages dating from the 18th century, featuring slate roofs. Some original stone chimneys remain, and a few window openings have not been enlarged. The cottages typically have catslide roofs visible at the rear, many of which have been extended. Several cottages in the row have been combined, and there are gardens in front with some remaining stone walls. To the south, there is an area of irregular enclosures or allotments associated with the cottages.

Nos 15 and 16 share a structure with doors originally located in the inner bays and windows in the outer bays. The ground floor windows have been enlarged, while the upper windows are smaller and set slightly further in. The glazing is from the 20th century. There is a stone stack at the left end and a rendered stack at the right end. Both houses have late 20th-century porches that obscure the doors, with one door possibly removed.

Although the interior is not available for inspection, it is reported to have joisted floors, fireplaces on the left and right, and winding staircases adjacent to the fireplaces, with timber in No 15 and stone in No 16.
