Description
9 Upper Colliers Row is one of a row of mostly altered two-storey stone cottages that date back to the 18th century and feature slate roofs. Some original stone chimneys remain, and a few window openings have not been enlarged. The cottages typically have catslide roofs visible at the rear, many of which have been extended. Several cottages have been joined together, and there are gardens in front with some remaining stone walls. To the south, there is an area of irregular enclosures or allotments associated with the cottage row.
No 9 has undergone significant alterations. It features 20th-century roughcast cladding and shares a stone stack with No 8. There is a wide late 20th-century window on each floor to the right, with brick sills, and a door located in a late 20th-century porch to the left.
The interior is not available for inspection, but it is reported to have joisted floors, a fireplace to the left, and winding staircases adjacent, possibly made of timber.
