Description

1 Chapel Row is a two-storey terraced row with the taller remains of a polygonal structure at its northern end. The building appears to date from the 18th century, although evidence suggests earlier construction. It has a rubble facade with some rough dressings, and a continuous slate roof, with a hipped end to the south. Brick stacks are also present. The front has two window bays, which are wider at the southern end, featuring modern small-pane sash windows within cemented reveals, with voussoir lintels (painted at number 1). Central six-panel doors are offset toward number 5. Low brick forecourts with plain capping stones link to the splayed outer wall of a former chapel or warehouse, which projects to the left. Pale quoins and round-arched window openings are visible on this forward section.

To the west of Chapel Row is a reconstructed section of canal, accompanied by an ironwork frame belonging to the relocated Rhydycar Iron Bridge.
