Description
The walls and gatepiers at the courtyard entrance of Craig-y-parc date from the 19th century. The walls extend north from the northeast and northwest corners of the main building. On the east side, the walls are approximately 1.2 meters high, constructed of rubble with a flat stone coping, and there is a gap leading to the garage courtyard. At the northeast corner, there is a square pier about 3 meters high. The upper part of the wall features a narrow recessed panel on each side, above which are two tiers of nesting holes for doves, each with a single entrance and protruding stone ledges, topped with a pyramidal cap. The north walls are similar to those on the east. The entrance is flanked by square piers approximately 2.7 meters high, which have moulded ashlar coping and are topped with metal lanterns that have wrought iron bases. The west wall has a central opening and sections of wooden trellis work in the upper half, finished with pitched stone tile coping.
