Description

The U-plan farm ranges located to the southeast of Parc-y-Justice consist of three sides of a rectangle. They are constructed from local stone rubble with some brick dressings, featuring a mix of Welsh slate and corrugated roofs. The central low range, facing south, contains six stables and has a replaced roof. At the rear, there are small rectangular openings with stone lintels and stone sills.

To the left, there is a long ground floor area that is undivided in length but has wall and timber partitions along the sides. Access to the loft is provided by internal stairs and externally at first floor level due to the raised ground to the north. The open lower end is covered with corrugated sheeting. The roof of this range extends low over a single-storey wing, which is entered through a doorway with a moulded surround. This wing retains its Welsh slate roof and features tooled voussoirs above the first-floor openings.

To the right, attached to the stable range, is a small high Vale barn that has a plinth and porches on either side. It features high double doors to the east and a smaller porch on the inner west side, both with single-pitched roofs and arched doorways with lintels. There are two tiers of ventilation slits, some of which are partially blocked, and the barn was formerly rendered. It retains its Welsh slate roof.

Attached to the outer gable end of the barn is a low range containing five stables with a replaced roof, including a double stable at the end and further cross ranges at the rear flanking the barn. Some of these stables have drainage holes at their bases. The eastern range, which may have been a former cowshed, features a loft with five bays and a king-post roof.
