Description
The footbridge at Cogan's Station is a Grade II listed structure featuring square cast-iron balusters topped with ball finials, marked with foundry plates from 'George Smith & Co, Glasgow'. The bridge is supported by wrought iron lattice girder rails for both the stairs and the bridge itself, along with a cast iron handrail.
The steps are designed with wooden treads and cast-iron risers that include pierced quatrefoils. At the turn of the stairs, there is a half landing supported by cast-iron Corinthian columns in the Italianate quattrocento style, which stand on fluted plinths and are reinforced with pierced cast-iron angle bracing. The bridge has wooden decking, and the rails are further strengthened by five bulbous braces that pass underneath the decking. Additionally, there are two modern lamps located on the north side of the bridge.
